Another week of preparing for our “mighty launch”. This time, Peter and Rich go to Palo Alto to scour IKea for raw materials … A local pub plays host to a couple of meticulous history nuts … and The Aeronauts alight themselves upon The Neverwas Haul in Emeryville, CA to scout out a location for an upcoming film shoot! We’re also joined by Erin McGauley-Hebard, Louise DuCray, and Jay Davis – a former ILM sculptor and puppeteer, whose credits include Young Sherlock Holmes, Gremlins, and Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan!

To learn more about the shenanigans of the day, take a look at the latest installment of the Behind-The-Scenes Video Blog!

“Steampunk: History Beyond Imagination” – Pinned inside while it rains in June…?

•June 28, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Howdy All,

It’s raining…in California…IN JUNE. Yeah, yeah, yeah…”What’s new?” says the crew from the southeast. I don’t care where you’re from. If it’s June…and it’s RAINING…it STINKS!

Okay, enough whining!

Today I’m going to be crafting some incentive gifts for a round of fundraising that our exhibit will need if we’re going to successfully open by October 14th. I’m thinking something along the lines of those cool pins you can purchase at Disneyland. Some people go to great lengths to collect them (I know…I’m one of them) and have vast menageries of various themes (my pins of choice are anything Haunted Mansion or 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea…ahem).

I’ll keep you abreast of this development.

Oh, yes! I have also joined TechShop in San Francisco. For those of you who don’t know – TechShop is a place where makers, inventors and artists (like me) can go and get training on some pretty darned cool equipment. You can learn how to use a laser cutter, a CNC lathe, and a whole bunch of other neat things. They have locations in San Mateo and San Jose too. Check out their WEBSITE to learn more!

We’re also working on a weekly video blog! We’ll set up a link here, but we want to share the experience of seven crazy people who are trying to do the impossible with you. Maybe it’s the “train wreck factor” at work…or maybe we hope that you’ll support us (morally…spiritually…financially?) as we claw our way to the finish line. The first installment films tomorrow as Rich Medley and I hit the road to start looking for bits and pieces for the exhibit.

Okay…Wish me luck and we’ll see you next time!
